Accolade enters Czech football with the acquisition of first league FK Teplice and plans to invest heavily in its facilities.
Accolade, a Czech investment company, has bought the Czech Premier League football club FK Teplice from ACC Glass Europe. It also acquires one of the largest stadiums in the Czech Republic with a capacity of 17,000 people. Apart from the initial investment, Accolade intends to further develop the club. It plans to modernise the Na Stínadle stadium and build a training centre in Modlany. ACC Glass has owned FK Teplice since the early 1990s and will remain a sponsor of the club. According to statements from both parties, the cooperation is to continue off the pitch.
Accolade owns 62 industrial parks across 8 European countries, where it leases prime infrastructure to 213 companies in the e-commerce and logistics sectors. These parks cover an area of 3.6 million square meters and are worth €900 million. At the same time, Accolade is developing additional sites covering 5 million square metres.
AGC Glass is a global leader in the production of glass panels for the automotive, construction and high-tech industries. It employs over 13,000 people at more than 100 locations in Europe alone.
The football scene has become an interesting investment opportunity due to increased revenues from broadcasting rights and additional revenues from the European Cup. This is the seventh change of ownership for a premier league football club in the last two years. The parties did not specify the price of the transaction.
