PE group KKR acquires UK-based Superstruct Entertainment, one of the world's largest festival promoters, from Providence Equity Partners. According to the Financial Times, the deal is worth EUR 1.3 billion.
Founded in 2017 with seed funding from Providence and led by former Live Nation executive James Barton, Superstruct has expanded its business through strategic acquisitions in Europe and Australia. The company now operates 80 major festivals and 200 smaller events, including the Wacken Open Air rock festival, Boardmasters and Sónar. Demand for live entertainment has grown significantly over the past decade and is projected to continue to grow as consumer spending increasingly shifts from goods to experiences.
KKR is making this investment through its USD 8 billion European Fund VI. KKR's other European investments include BMG, UK ticketing app Trainline, German broadcaster ProSiebenSat.1 and PR company FGS Global.
