Wienerberger has expanded its portfolio with Betonarna Lesonice s.r.o., a Czech producer of concrete paving. The acquisition is aimed at increasing the production capacity of concrete tiles, satisfying the growing demand for this type of products and strengthening the company's position on the Czech market.

Betonárna Lesonice, located in Martínkov, is a producer of concrete products in the Czech Republic. It specializes in the production of paving, curbs, blocks and other concrete elements that are widely used in exteriors. In 2019, a new automated production line was put into operation here, which puts the company among the technologically advanced manufacturers.

Wienerberger has been striving for a long time to strengthen its position in the field of concrete products, as its Semmelrock brand does not have such a strong position in the Czech Republic as, for example, Wienerberger's burnt bricks or roofing materials from its subsidiary Tondach. Wienerberger s.r.o.'s 2023 turnover fell 26% year-on-year to CZK 3.6bn, with pre-tax profit falling to CZK 428m. This decline was mainly due to the cooling of the construction market and the unfavourable economic situation in the Czech Republic.
