Czech investment group PPF, through its logistics company InPost, has acquired a majority stake in the UK delivery firm Yodel. Following the takeover of Royal Mail by the Bidco consortium, this marks another Czech footprint in the British parcel delivery market.

InPost, part of PPF’s investment portfolio, acquired a 95.5% stake in Yodel from the British company Judge Logistic. A previous loan of CZK 3.1 billion extended by InPost to Judge Logistic was repaid through this acquisition.

Yodel typically employs around 10,000 people, with seasonal peaks reaching up to 12,000. In 2023, it reported revenues of CZK 16.2 billion but operated at a loss of CZK 1.4 billion (compared to a CZK 5 billion loss in 2022).

InPost, which has already had a presence in the UK, will become the third-largest logistics player in the British market with an 8% market share following the transaction. The company expects the acquisition to return Yodel to profitability, accelerate its UK expansion by five years, and provide valuable experience for future M&A activity.
