Rohlik secured a €160 million investment led by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), with participation from VC firms Sofina, Index Ventures, the European Investment Bank, Quadrille and TCF Capital. The funds will be used for expansion in Germany, Switzerland, Austria and Central Europe.
Last time Rohlík raised a total of CZK 5.4 billion from investors in 2022. Rohlik now supplies food to households in five countries: the Czech Republic, Germany (Knuspr.de), Austria (Gurkerl.at), Hungary (Kifli.hu) and Romania (Sezamo.ro).
Last year, Rohlík achieved profitability in the Czech Republic and Hungary and now considers Germany to be its main market. In Germany, it currently operates in Augsburg, Frankfurt, Munich and Berlin, with plans to expand to Hamburg and Essen. In September last year, Rohlik bought Bringmeister in Berlin.
McKinsey estimates that up to 30% of food sales could be made online in leading countries by 2030.
