Křetínský's Fnac Darty buys Italian electronics retailer Unieuro

Fnac Darty, a French electronics and appliance distributor whose main shareholder is Czech businessman Daniel Křetínský's Vesa Equity Investment, will take over Italian electronics retailer Unieuro.

Fnac Darty submitted a joint bid with Ruby Equity Investment to take over Unieuro for EUR 249 million back in July this year. Listed on the Milan Stock Exchange, Unieuro has a 17% share of the Italian market, operates more than 500 stores with 5,000 employees and has an annual turnover of €2.6 billion. The new entity will be 51% owned by Fnac Darty and 49% by Ruby Equity Investment, a subsidiary of Vesa Equity Investment.

With operations in Spain, Portugal, Belgium, Switzerland, Luxembourg and several African and Middle Eastern countries, Fnac Darty operates approximately 1,000 stores and employs 25,000 people, with sales approaching €8 billion at the end of 2023.
